According to the Journal of Early Child Literacy, early learning lays the groundwork for a child’s educational journey and has a profound impact on their overall brain development. Research suggests children who develop strong early literacy skills are more likely to succeed academically, exhibit higher levels of self-confidence, and actively engage in learning experiences. However, children in under-resourced communities frequently lack access to quality reading instruction and books after school and during summertime. Story Time With is addressing this critical issue by matching young students with local teens who provide hands-on reading instruction, art projects, and mentorship, cultivating a love of reading.
Story Time With was founded in 2021 by Sarah Fisher who understood first-hand the challenges of learning to read. From a young age, Sarah struggled to read, but received the instruction she needed early on. Sarah wanted to ensure all students have access to the learning and encouragement she had.
Today, Story Time With is available in two locations in Westchester County and one in Southern Connecticut, including Mamaroneck's Community Resource Center, Mount Kisco's Neighbor's Link and Eagle Hill School. Instruction is provided by student teenagers from The Harvey School in Katonah, New York and Eagle Hill School in Greenwich, CT. Sarah brought the program to Eagle Hill to allow students with reading disabilities to gain confidence by mentoring younger children with reading.

Sarah Fisher is the founder of "Story Time With," an entirely student-run volunteer organization, dedicated to instilling a love of reading in children in under-resourced communities and ESL students learning to speak English as a second language.
Sarah is a high school student attending The Harvey School in Katonah, NY. Born and raised in Westchester County, NY, Sarah’s own struggles with reading as a child sparked her drive to make a difference in other children’s lives who struggle with access to reading.
Under Sarah’s leadership, "Story Time With" now reaches children in three organizations (two in Westchester and one in Connecticut) by giving them the support and encouragement they need to develop reading skills and a lifelong love for books.
Sarah's journey from struggling reader to the founder of “Story Time With”, reflects her passion for ensuring that children without the necessary resources have the opportunity to experience the joy of reading.
When not working on Story Time With, Sarah enjoys playing tennis with her family, practicing the drums, and of course, READING!
